So you’re thinking about joining Arun Art Society
Joining any new group can be intimidating. Many art clubs demand that you show examples of your work and have them assessed before you are allowed to join. We found that this put off prospective new members; they found it discouraging, even scary. So, we abolished it.
In its place we allow anyone to join who has a passion for art – whether that is painting, drawing or 3-D work – who practices regularly and is willing to contribute to the progress of the club.
How does this work?
- All new applicants will be offered a 3-month introductory period for £10. This includes entry to all sessions, demonstrations and other events on the same terms as full members.
- The only exception to this rule is that, if the three months introductory period is not completed prior to the Annual Exhibition (usually in late July/early August) they cannot take part in it until the following year.
- At the end of the period, the Membership Secretary will meet with the new member to ensure that the individual feels comfortable that the Society is right for them and vica versa.
- If everyone is in agreement, the individual is asked to pay the balance of the full membership fee; which will be reduced pro-rata depending on when the individual joined.
